What is L’Identité Numérique La Poste?

L’Identité Numérique La Poste (LINLP) is a solution that enables the secure verification and authentication of a user’s identity online.

It allows a partner service to:

  • delegate user authentication
  • rely on a previously verified identity
  • retrieve trusted and certified data

👉 Users can therefore prove their identity online just as they would physically with an identity document.

How it works

LINLP is based on strong two-factor authentication:

  • 1st factor: the user’s smartphone (trusted device)
  • 2nd factor: validation using a secret PIN code or biometrics

👉 Authentication is always validated by the user on their phone.

User journey

The standard journey is as follows:

  1. The user clicks on “Sign in with L’Identité Numérique”
  2. They are redirected to the identification screen to enter their phone number
  3. They receive an authentication request on their smartphone
  4. They confirm using their secret code or biometrics
  5. They are redirected back to the partner service

💡 The partner never manages user credentials or passwords.
